What do you think about Y2K?
(January 8, 2000) |

Y2K, the big scare of beginning the new year. Computers are suppose to
shut down and chaos would reign over the world. But it's January the
year 2000. And we are safe and sound, so was the whole thing a scam?
Maybe, so the grocery business would burn holes in our wallets, but
who really knows how this Y2K scare started, the only thing to say is,
we are alive and well. Enjoy the new year!
email: mee_vue@hotmail.com text: I really don't think that anything is going to happen. I know that many people is scared but I am not I think that here in the us these people here is to smart they know what they are doing. I think that they already got most part fix. email: julietl0vesromeo@yahoo.com text: Y2K is merely a pathetic scam to earn some cash flow into one's pocket. I understand where one would have to be cautious just in case but this whole thing with Hmong peers moving back to the motherland seems like an over- reaction towards nothing at all. I do not understand what difference it would make to be here and to be there. Light will shine in both places no matter what. What I would like to question is that how is it possible for Y2K to exist when we all live in a different time zone. So would it be that because you live in Thailand, you will have a couple more hours to see the light before there is a blackout? Well in conclusion, I say be cautious, yes, by having a gallon of water per person per day to last about two weeks and food enough to feed so many people in your family for about two weeks and also include items of necesity such as batteries and candles. Yet this whole "moving to Thailand" thing is totally beyond what one should do. Just question yourself before you do decide to leave......is it worth leaving freedom behind and a career a good home and familiar faces for something that you do not know will occur for sure? if your answer is no then I suggest that you do not go. email: niki_lo@hotmail.com text: Y2K, i believe, is the scariest thing that is out there right now. it is leading everyone to do the craziest things because everyone is unsure of what will happen tomorrow. however, i feel that what happens will happen. You cannot prepare yourself for something that u have no idea what is to come. there could be nothing and there could be total chaos. however, i think it is gonna be okay in the end. people, in general have been around for over thousands and thousands of years dating back to way before Christ. if we've made it that far, i'm sure we'll make it now. its just gonna be a phase that we go through which may create a great transition among the people as a whole but i'm sure their will be at least two hmong people out there (guy and girl) who would survive if the world did mostly die out, and carry on the future for us hmong people. _YIN email: text: Y2K is a problem of the imperfection of computer technology. The problem can be a real one. If it happens there will be things that affect your life like the domino affect. I think it is wise to prepare yourself for somekind of emergency: light, water, food, cash on hand, gas for car, and medicines. Preparing these emergency items to last about one or two weeks. However, I don't believe that there will be a natural catastrophy like the sky is falling and this is the end of the world. email: text: Y2K is a problem of the imperfection of computer technology.
