Thanks for all the respones on the question. The question that has been posted at this website was " What defines you as Hmong?" Now there has been many interesting respones to this question. Some said because I have black hair, yellow skin, and brown eyes. But I ask than that must mean all asia people are Hmong. That's is incorrect, but that is what that one person view of as himself and I respect that. On the other what defines you as Hmong is a very hard question. Is it bacause our parents are just Hmong or just because we have black hair. What makes Hmong stands out from other asias? Well first we speak and understand the language Hmong. That is very important to know because if you don't understand your language then we teenagers begin to lose our culture. Language is one thing that bonds teenagers to their parents. You see, most Hmong parents cannot speak english andin order to understand this country they need you. Why? Because you know how to speak english and hmong which will help out you and your parents. This is one of the few things that defines you as Hmong. Another thing that was presented to me was that teens try to follow the tradiations ways. One thing that what not presented to me was what tradiations were they. Was it the religion or something else? One thing that came to mind was that of the roles. Women were caretakers of the house and the family. Most Hmong teenagers are still following that today, but are not just involved in that. I changelle Hmong girls to presude in their educations and expand the roles of the Hmong women. On the other hand Hmong men are expected to get marry young and have a family. Some of these men do follow this path. I personaly don't agree with this traditions. I encourage Hmong men to also presude in their education and expand their roles.
