These two bookmarks were made by MaiYer Vang. She was taught by many of the elders, who came to the class. On the bookmarks she used the colors: red, green, orange, purple, and blue as her threads to make the designs. MaiYer chose these colors because she felt that they were the mami colors for her designs. She began her designs with the color red. She chose this color because it was bright and it brought out the other colors. She made each stitch diagonal to the others, which forms an X. The needle that she used for this kind of sewing is a one-and-a- half inch sharp one-eye needle. "This project wasn't all that hard because I have already been taught how to sew before," said MaiYer.
