Welcome to "Hmong Textile Arts" at Harding High School!

Hmong elders who are sewing experts visit the class weekly and teach the students Hmong culture and history through textile arts. These elders expose the students to the textile arts tradition, just like the way they learned sewing as young girls from their mothers in Laos.

During fall 1998, students learned cross-stitching, and during spring 1999, they learned reverse appplique; Hmong people have used both of these sewing techniques for centuries to embelish their clothing and other textile items.
